Bought by Julian in 1983 USV was at the time the earliest surviving 1951 model Land Rover in the world. Restored while still at school (and instead of revising for O Levels…) ‘Eric’ the Land Rover became Julian’s daily transport for several years. Fitted with a Rover 60 alloy cylinder head it went very well, travelled the country and was used for trials with the Essex Land Rover Club.

 

Fashion magnate and Land Rover enthusiast Ralph Lauren contacted us through a friend and asked if Eric could be bought for his own use. Once in the US it is still a part of Ralph Lauren’s personal collection of vehicles and has been used regularly for promotional work around the world.
